And the lamest month in the history of horror DVDs has finally come to a close. Well, we actually have one more Tuesday left, but it's a slight improvement over last week. But mainly we're getting a lot of obscure imports, catalog titles, and a few random cheapies. By Scott Weinberg My favorite release this week is a zombie / slasher mash-up called Hell's Ground, which is doubly interesting in that it comes from Pakistan! Yeah, not exactly something you see every day. It's a derivative but energetic romp that has throws some exotic spice on a bunch of familiar ingredients. Also today from Severin Films we get a pair of semi-forgotten cannibal-themed horrors -- one from Italy, of course. I'm not exactly sure how many fans there are for Papaya: Love Goddess of the Cannibals (Joe D'Amato, 1978) or the horrid French flick Cannibal Terror (Alain Deruelle, 1981) -- but if you're trying to see absolutely every bad movie in which humans eat humans, here are two more you can scratch off the list. Fans of creepy Asian hair have a lot to celebrate: Exte: Hair Extensions (which is pretty wild) comes out next month, and today we get a Korean creeper called The Wig. It's about ... well, you've see The Eye, right? Well, this one's exactly the same, only it's about hair. Yes, a poor chemo patient is given a haunted wig to wear. Sounds wild. Speaking of The Eye, today we get something called The Eye 3 (also known as Gin Gwai 10, and yes it's confusing), which comes from the Pang brothers, which is good, but is yet another movie about boring ol' haunted corneas. Which is not. Plus I missed The Eye 2, so I'd probably be even more confused. In the catalog department we see stuff like Killer's Moon (1978), Simon: King of the Witches (1971), and (Linda Blair in) The Chilling (1989), but I'm probably most curious about the new title The Tattooist, which has a pretty wacky premise.
